Terms of Use

These terms are the agreement between you and Bridgelight (bridgelight.pet). By creating a memorial, writing a letter or otherwise using the site, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.
1. Who can use Bridgelight
You must be at least 16 years old to create a memorial, write letters or notes, or give us an email address. Anyone can visit and light a candle.
2. Your memorial and edit key
There are no accounts. Whoever holds a memorial's edit key (saved in the creator's browser and in the owner link) can change or delete it. Keep the owner link safe. If the key is lost, we may not be able to confirm that you are the owner.
You choose who can see a memorial: public (listed on the wall), unlisted (only people with the link) or private.
3. Your content
You keep ownership of the photos, videos, stories and letters you add ("your content").
You give Bridgelight a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, copy, resize, display and share your content on the site and in share images, and to create the AI portraits and 3D garden pet you ask for, only to run and show the service. This license ends when your content is deleted, except for short-lived backups and copies other people already shared.
You promise that you have the right to share your content: for example, that you took the photos or have permission from whoever did, and that people shown in them are fine with it.
4. Rules for a gentle place
Please don't post anything that is: illegal; hateful, harassing, threatening or cruel; sexual; violent or graphic in a way meant to shock; someone else's private information; spam, ads or links for profit; or content you don't have the rights to. Don't impersonate others, try to break or overload the site, or get around limits and blocks.
Memorials are for pets. Bridgelight is not a place for human obituaries or for content about real people beyond the pet's family.
5. Letters, notes and the shared meadow
Letters, candles, flowers and garden notes are visible to anyone who can open the memorial. A memorial's owner can hide or delete letters and block writers. A letter is hidden automatically after several reports until the owner reviews it.
6. Moderation and reports
We may remove content, hide memorials from the public wall, or block access if we believe these terms or the law are broken, or to protect people. We aren't able to review everything before it appears, and we are not responsible for what users post, but we act on reports.
To report a memorial, a letter or anything else, use the Report button on a letter or the contact form at bridgelight.pet/contact. Please include the link, why you think it is illegal or breaks these terms, and your email. We review reports by hand, without automated decisions, and act quickly.
If we remove or restrict your content, we will tell you why when we can reach you, and you can ask us to look again through the contact form. If someone says content invades their privacy or defames them, we may hide it temporarily (up to 30 days) while we check, as Korean law (Information and Communications Network Act, Art. 44-2) allows.

7. Copyright complaints
If you believe content on Bridgelight infringes your copyright, send a notice through the contact form, choosing "Copyright / takedown", with: your name and contact details; the work you own; the link to the content; a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn't authorized; a statement that your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the owner or authorized to act for them; and your physical or electronic signature (typing your full name is fine).
We will remove or disable content that is clearly identified and tell the person who posted it. They may send a counter-notice through the same form. We remove the content of repeat infringers.
8. AI portraits and AI features
AI portraits are artistic images made by a computer from your photo. They are not real photos, may not look exactly like your pet, and are labeled "AI-generated". Please don't present them as real photographs in a misleading way. You may use portraits of your own pet for personal, non-commercial purposes such as sharing and printing.
9. Free memorials and our promise
Free memorials are free with no time limit and no ads. Our forever promise (bridgelight.pet/promise) describes how we plan to keep them online. We will do our best, but we cannot guarantee the site will be available without interruption forever. If we ever had to close, we would give as much notice as possible and help you get a copy of your content.
10. Paid features and refunds
Nothing on Bridgelight costs money today. If paid features are added (for example a Forever Keepsake or extra portraits), the price and what you get will be shown before you pay, and payments will be processed by a payment provider whose checkout terms will also apply.
Refunds: if a paid feature doesn't work as described, contact us within 14 days for a full refund. If you live in the EU or UK, you have the legal right to withdraw from a purchase within 14 days, except that for digital content delivered right away (such as a portrait already painted) you will be asked to agree to immediate delivery, after which this right ends. Nothing here limits refunds or guarantees the law gives you, including under the Australian Consumer Law.
11. Not professional advice
Bridgelight is a place for remembrance, not a medical, veterinary or mental health service. If you are struggling, please reach out to a pet loss support line or a professional.
12. Disclaimer and liability
The site is provided "as is" and "as available". To the extent the law allows, we make no warranties, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the last 12 months (or USD 50 if you paid nothing). Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, such as for intent or gross negligence, or limits your rights as a consumer.
13. Ending use
You can stop using Bridgelight and delete your memorial at any time. We may suspend access for anyone who seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms.
14. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you may bring a claim in your local courts. Please contact us first so we can try to sort things out.
15. Changes
We may update these terms. We will change the date above and, for important changes, give notice on the site before they apply. If you keep using the site after that, the new terms apply.
